Principle Observability LLC operates principleobservability.com. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and what you can ask us to do about it.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for advertising. Nothing on this site follows you to other websites. The only measurement in place is aggregate traffic counting, described in Section 2.
1. What this policy covers
This policy covers information collected through this website, principally the email you send us.
It does not cover information handled during a client engagement. Client data, including any telemetry, logs, configuration, or personal information encountered while performing services, is governed by the written agreement and any data processing terms with that client, not by this policy. In that context Principle Observability LLC handles that information only as the client's agreement permits and directs.
2. Information we collect
If you email us, we receive what you choose to send: your name, email address, any organization you mention, and the content of your message and later correspondence.
Please do not send confidential, regulated, or sensitive information by ordinary email. If an engagement proceeds, we will agree an appropriate channel with you.
Traffic measurement
Our hosting provider produces aggregate traffic statistics for this site, including through a lightweight measurement script, and enables this by default as part of the hosting service. How that data is generated and handled is governed by the provider's own privacy terms.
What we see is aggregate: roughly how many people visit, which pages they reach, and whether the site is loading correctly. We cannot identify you from it, and we do not use it for advertising or combine it with anything else.
3. How we use this information
- To read and respond to your inquiry
- To continue a conversation you started, and to discuss or perform services if an engagement follows
- To detect, prevent, and investigate spam, abuse, and security incidents
- To keep records we are required to keep, and to establish or defend legal claims
We do not use your information for any other purpose without telling you first.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information
- We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
- We do not run advertising or marketing automation on this site. The aggregate traffic counting described in Section 2 is the only measurement in place
- We do not send marketing email to addresses collected through this site
5. Who we share it with
We disclose personal information only to the following categories of recipients, and only for the purposes described above:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers. The services that host this site and that route and deliver email sent to us.
- Professional advisors. Our attorneys and accountants, where necessary and under a duty of confidentiality.
- Legal and safety. Where required by law, valid legal process, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
These recipients act as service providers on our behalf. We do not authorize them to use your information for their own marketing purposes.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We set no cookies of our own. Nothing on this site sets a cookie for analytics, advertising, or tracking - the traffic measurement described in Section 2 is cookie-free.
Our infrastructure provider may set cookies that are strictly necessary to operate its security services, for example to support bot detection or rate limiting. We do not set, control, or read these. Their purpose and handling are governed by that provider's own terms.
7. California Do Not Track Disclosures
Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal indicating that you do not wish to be tracked across websites. There is no common industry standard for interpreting those signals. We do not need one: this site does not collect personal information about your online activities over time and across third-party websites, whether or not a Do Not Track signal is present. In that sense the site behaves as though Do Not Track were always on.
We do not permit other parties to collect personal information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use this site. The providers described in Section 5 receive information only as needed to serve, protect, or deliver this site, and not to build a record of your browsing across other sites.
8. How long we keep it
- Inquiries that do not lead to an engagement. Kept only while they may still be useful, then deleted. In practice this is a matter of months, not years.
- Correspondence connected to an engagement. Retained for the duration of the engagement and afterwards as needed for tax, insurance, professional, and legal recordkeeping.
9. How we protect it
The site is served only over encrypted connections. Access to email sent to us is limited to Principle Observability LLC and protected by multi-factor authentication where the provider supports it. We also collect as little as possible in the first place.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
10. Your choices and your rights
Whether or not any particular privacy statute applies to a practice of this size, we extend the following to anyone who contacts us:
- Know. Ask what personal information we hold about you, where it came from, why we have it, and who we disclosed it to.
- Access. Ask for a copy of it.
- Correct. Ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
- Delete. Ask us to delete it. We will, unless we are required to keep it for legal, tax, or claim-defense reasons, in which case we will tell you what we kept and why.
- Opt out of sale or sharing. Nothing to opt out of - we do not sell or share personal information. There is no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link on this site because there is no such activity to decline.
- No retaliation. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these.
To make a request, email info@principleobservability.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We will respond promptly, and normally within forty-five days.
We may need to verify your identity before acting, usually by confirming that you control the email address associated with the information. If you use an authorized agent, we will ask for proof of that authorization.
11. Minors
This site is directed at business audiences and is not intended for minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Please check this page for the current version. Where a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we will say so on this page.
